World Belly Dance Day is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful art of belly dance, uniting many dancers from around the world, holding this event as a reminder that belly dance is an art form, a cultural event, a sport, and a social and family entertainment.
The wonderful idea to celebrate this day came from Lydia Tzigane, a professional Middle Eastern artist from Dubai.
Join us for this exceptional day of celebrating the beautiful art of Belly Dance, the beauty of women and to share the love of dancing with people around the world.
This year again the dance troupe of Invermere will take this opportunity to raise funds for two charities. All profits will be equally divided between Invermere’s Youth Action Committee and Plan Canada’s program “Because I am A Girl”.
The festivities will start with two dance workshops followed by a taste of the Middle Eastern dinner catered by Anne Riches, with wine & beer bar and dance entertainment. A silent auction with amazing items to bid on will be going on through the evening.
Workshop and dinner will be held at the Invermere Community Hall, on 8th Ave & 12th Street
2 workshops of 1,5 hour each $ 25.00 or attend both for $40.00 and learn the full choreography !
Workshop starts at 12.30 pm - 02.00 pm and 02.30 pm - 04.00 pm
Please arrive 15 minutes in advance for registration and bring a yoga mat or large towel and a water bottle. Payment at the door available for the workshop.
Doors open at 06.00 pm for aperitifs and silent auction
Dinner will start at 07.00 pm
Cost is $30.00 per person payment is in advance only (paypal users : $32.50)
Tickets are available at Springs, Essentials and Selkirk TV/Radio Shack
Dancers wanted for the dinner entertainment and receive a dance bag as a thank you gift. If you would like to perform during dinner please let me know as soon as possible so I can order the bags and get them embroidered.
All registrations for the dinner event must arrive before May 1st 2010,
